Our Commitment to Ethical Publishing
The International Journal of Teaching and Learning takes academic honesty and responsible publication of research very seriously. All parties to the publication process – authors, reviewers, editorial board and editorial staff – are expected to be honest, fair and responsible.
The purpose of our publication ethics guidelines is to safeguard the integrity of scholarly research and to promote trust among scholars.
1. Responsibilities of Authors
It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure that they have written something that is original and presented correctly. Authors should:
- Submit original work that has not been published elsewhere.
- Ensure that all listed authors have made a meaningful contribution.
- Properly acknowledge sources, ideas, data, and previous research.
- Provide accurate information about research methods and findings.
- Avoid plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification of data.
- Disclose relevant conflicts of interest.
- Obtain appropriate permissions where copyrighted material is used.
- Cooperate with the editorial team if concerns arise about the submitted work.
2. Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication
Plagiarism, duplicate publication and extensive use of another person's work without attribution are unacceptable to the journal.
Plagiarism or other inappropriate content will be checked in manuscripts. If ethical concerns are raised, the journal may seek clarification, deny publication or take other action as deemed necessary after publication.
3. Authorship
Only those who have made a substantial contribution to the research or manuscript should be listed as an author.
All authors should approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.
The author list changes after submission will be thoroughly explained and may necessitate the approving of all involved authors.
4. Reviewer Responsibilities
The work of reviewers is very essential in ensuring the quality of published research. The reviewers are expected to:
- Provide fair, objective, and constructive feedback.
- Treat submitted manuscripts as confidential.
- Identify potential conflicts of interest.
- Avoid using unpublished information for personal benefit.
- Support their recommendations with appropriate academic reasoning.
- Inform the editor if they identify serious ethical concerns.
5. Editorial Responsibilities
Manuscripts should be evaluated fairly and independently by the editors. Judging articles for editorial selection should be based on their academic merit, topical interest, novelty and journal appropriateness.
The editors should exercise confidentiality and deal properly with a potential conflict of interest.
6. Conflicts of Interest
Authors, reviewers and editors are expected to be aware of and disclose any personal, financial, professional, contractual, or other relationships or circumstances that might be construed to have or imply a conflict of interest in their review or evaluation of the work presented in this manuscript.
If there is a substantial conflict of interest, then proper measures can be taken to maintain impartial editorial/review process.
7. Research Integrity
The authors shall conduct themselves in a responsible manner and present their results honestly. It is not acceptable to fabricate, manipulate results, or otherwise mislead.
If research involves human subjects, or, if relevant, personal data or other ethical issues, authors should abide by relevant ethical requirements and give information about approval or consent as appropriate.
8. Corrections and Retractions
The journal may publish a correction or other appropriate notice if an important error is discovered in an article which has been published.
The journal may retract articles or take other appropriate measures for articles with serious problems, such as major errors, misconduct, or unreliable findings, in order to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
9. Ethical Handling of Complaints
The journal has a strong understanding of research and publication ethics. Plagiarism, authorship, conflicts of interest, misconduct in research, and other issues of concern with respect to the publication will be addressed seriously and appropriately.
