Author Guidelines

Guidelines for Authors

The IJTL welcomes original research and scholarship on issues pertaining to teaching, learning, and the broader education field. We ask the authors to take this into consideration before submitting their manuscripts.

To ensure the efficient and consistent processing of submission and to ensure consistency in published articles, it is best to adhere to the following requirements:

1. Manuscript Scope

Manuscripts submitted should be within the scope and objectives of the Journal. Original articles on topics including teaching methodology, curriculum, assessment, teacher education, educational technology, learning practices, and others are welcome for the journal.

2. Originality of the Manuscript

Manuscripts must be original and not have been published or submitted to another journal at the same time.

The authors must ensure that their submitted work contains no plagiarism, fabricated information, false results or inappropriate use of previously published material.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be ready for the author(s) to read clearly. The following is a typical outline of a research article:

  • Title – Clear and informative.
  • Author Information – Full names, affiliations, and contact details.
  • Abstract – A brief summary of the research, methods, findings, and conclusions.
  • Keywords – Relevant terms that help readers discover the article.
  • Introduction – Background, research problem, and purpose of the study.
  • Literature Review – Relevant previous research and academic context.
  • Methodology – Research design, participants, data collection, and analysis methods, where applicable.
  • Results/Findings – Clear presentation of the research findings.
  • Discussion – Interpretation and significance of the findings.
  • Conclusion – Main conclusions and possible implications.
  • References – Complete details of all cited sources.

This structure can often be different depending on the type of manuscript submitted.

4. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should clearly communicate to the reader the content of a study without having to read the entire manuscript.

Authors should also furnish the appropriate keywords that are representative of the main topics of the article.

5. Tables, Figures, and Other Materials

All tables and figures must be numbered and cited in the text. They must be clearly presented, with titles or captions.

The author(s) must secure copyright permission for the reproduction of copyrighted figures, images or other third-party material, if necessary.

6. References and Citations

The use of all sources in the manuscript should be referenced properly. References must be complete, accurate and consistent with the journal's referencing style.

The authors should ensure that all sources cited in the text are also included in the reference list and that all the references in the reference list are cited in the text.

7. Authorship

The names of authors should be confined to those who have made significant contributions to the research or manuscript.

In submitting the manuscript, all the authors listed should read and approve the final version.

Authorship changes after the submission should be properly explained and approved by the concerned authors.

8. Ethical Requirements

Authors have a responsibility to conduct research and publish responsibly. Manuscripts should contain information on: (where applicable)

  • Ethical approval
  • Participant consent
  • Data protection
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Funding sources
  • Permissions for copyrighted material

Research results must be presented truthfully and in an accurate manner by the authors.

9. Manuscript Submission

Authors should be sure that the manuscript:

  • Fits within the journal's scope.
  • Meets the formatting requirements.
  • Is free from plagiarism and significant language issues.
  • Includes all required author information.
  • Contains complete references and citations.
  • Has been approved by all listed authors.

Submission of the manuscripts should be made by the appropriate submission system of the journal.

10. Review and Revision

All appropriate submissions are peer-reviewed and editorially considered for publication in the journal. Manuscripts may be sent back to the author for revision based upon reviewers' and/or editorial comments.

On a revised manuscript, authors should respond to the comments carefully and respond to comments as requested.

11. Publication Charges

It is the author's responsibility to check the policy on Article Processing Charges of the journal before submitting. In some cases, the publication fee is clearly communicated and is distinct from editorial and peer review decision.

Acceptance does not guarantee upon payment of any publication charge.

Final Checklist

Before submission, authors should make sure that:

  • The manuscript is original.
  • The research fits the journal's scope.
  • All authors have approved the manuscript.
  • Citations and references are complete.
  • Tables and figures are properly presented.
  • Ethical requirements have been addressed.
  • Conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
  • The manuscript follows the journal's submission requirement.
